Martin Ryan
Co-founder / Principal
Martin is a multi-award-winning designer, educator, and entrepreneur, as well as the co-founder of Actionable. He is the co-author of ARRIVE, a seminal book on design strategy and innovation, and an advisor on embedding innovation capabilities, building market insights, and delivering breakthrough products and services. Martin collaborates extensively with public and private sector organisations on strategy, research, training, and innovation.
Beyond consultancy, he is a faculty member in the Department of Product Design at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) and a former Director of Undergraduate Studies in Design Innovation at Maynooth University. He also serves as co-editor of Iterations, a leading Irish design journal.
In 2005, Martin invented the world’s first cantilevered saddle, a revolutionary equestrian product designed to enhance comfort and performance for horse and rider. The saddle gained international acclaim, establishing a customer base in 15 countries and redefining standards in equestrian sports.
Martin's work todate has earned numerous prestigious accolades, including the JEC World Innovation Award (Paris), the Dyson Design Award, and an IDI (Institute of Designers in Ireland) Award.
